JOJ Dakar-2026 : La Chine remet un don de matériel d’une valeur d’un milliard F CFA au comité d’organisation
China has handed over a large consignment of materials and equipment worth an estimated one billion CFA francs to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee (YOGOC). The reception ceremony was held this Tuesday in Dakar, in the presence of several Senegalese and Chinese officials.
Consisting of 13,000 items of office and logistics equipment, this donation comes from the Chinese National Olympic Committee. This gesture is part of a dynamic of solidarity and support for the organization of the Dakar-2026 YOG.
According to Li Zhigang, Chinese Ambassador to Senegal, this initiative is a strong symbol of the strategic partnership between the two countries. "Thanks to joint efforts, this equipment was delivered. In 438 days, Senegal will host an exciting moment on the international stage. The YOG will give new impetus to Senegal's Vision 2050. Africa has the opportunity to shine, and young people are at the heart of this dynamic," the Chinese diplomat said.
He also recalled that the Sino-Senegalese friendship "continues to strengthen and bear remarkable fruits."
Ibrahima Wade, General Coordinator of the YOGOC, expressed his gratitude: "This is not just logistical support. It is an act of commitment to excellence and friendship, fundamental values of the Olympic ideal," he emphasized.
He recalled that this donation is in addition to other major support from China, including the reception of 98 Senegalese athletes and their companions in high-level sports centers in China as well as the presence of Chinese experts in Dakar to accompany the committee.
"We are committed to making good use of this material. It is an act of legacy that we are carrying out for future generations," he concluded.
