DÉCISION FORTE, RÉACTION DE SON CLAN… LES DESSOUS DE LA NON-CONVOCATION DE DONNARUMMA POUR PSG-TOTTENHAM

Gianluigi Donnarumma is not in PSG's squad to face Tottenham in the European Super Cup this Wednesday in Udine (9 p.m.). This is a decision by the Parisian management, who are inviting the Italian goalkeeper to leave to make way for Lucas Chevalier, recruited from Lille.

A month and a half after PSG's victory in the Champions League final, the Parisian club has decided to turn the page on Gianluigi Donnarumma. Now blocked by Lucas Chevalier, recently signed from Lille, the Italian goalkeeper is expected to leave Paris by the end of the summer transfer window. So much so that the Italian international, under contract until June 2026, is not included in Luis Enrique's squad for the European Super Cup against Tottenham, this Wednesday in Udine (9 p.m.).

Faced with this sidelining, Gianluigi Donnarumma's entourage is ironic, pointing out that it's partly thanks to him that PSG is in a position to play in the European Super Cup and that he's among the best in the world in his position. But the leader of last season's historic epic is now being pushed towards the exit. Officially.

Donnarumma sidelined in training

The Euro 2021 winner had been warned of Lucas Chevalier's arrival before the transfer was made official, as revealed by RMC Sport. But this time, the former AC Milan captain finds himself more firmly urged to pack his bags.

This situation confirms the trend of recent days at the PSG Campus, even before the announcement of the signing of its French rival from LOSC. During the first training sessions since the restart, Gianluigi Donnarumma was regularly sidelined during matches.

A rebound in the Premier League?

With PSG under contract until next summer, Gianluigi Donnarumma could decide to complete his contract in order to receive a substantial signing bonus by joining the club of his choice. But it currently seems difficult to imagine him staying the entire 2025-2026 season without playing for Paris.

There's good news for the 26-year-old Italian, though: several clubs are interested in him. As explained by RMC Sport, several English clubs are eyeing "Gigio." The Premier League now appears to be the most likely destination in the event of his departure. But while PSG has shown him the exit door, Gianluigi Donnarumma intends to remain in control of his own destiny. His entourage continues to explain that he won't leave just anywhere or under any conditions.
