Défaite pour sa première avec l’OM : Habib Beye appelle à plus de verticalité et de densité athlétique
After the 2-0 defeat against Stade Brestois 29, Senegalese coach Habib Beye didn't look for a scapegoat. He preferred to broaden the discussion to the team's overall performance rather than single out his defensive line.
“I don’t like to single out the defense. When it comes to crosses, there are the second balls and the collective build-up play. It’s a team problem,” he insisted in the press conference. For him, the difficulties seen in the two goals conceded go beyond the simple responsibility of the defenders. “The defenders had a lot of duels, especially against Ludovic Ajorque on long balls. We need to think as a team unit,” he added.
Beyond simply stating the facts, Habib Beye opened the door to tactical adjustments. "Perhaps we also need to adapt the system to gain more verticality," he suggested, aware of the limitations displayed against a well-organized deep-lying defense. According to him, his team must learn to better circumvent this type of opposition: "Against a deep-lying defense, you have to know how to get around it and create connections both inside and out. This also requires more physical presence."
