Demi-finales tournoi UFOA-A U17 : Les Lionceaux visent une qualification pour la CAN, face à la Guinée-Bissau
Three days after securing their qualification for the semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over Mauritania, the Senegal U17 national team will face Guinea-Bissau, who finished first in Group A, this Wednesday, October 15 at 4 p.m. at the Mamadou Konaté Stadium in Bamako. The goal is to secure one of the two qualifying tickets for the next U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ousmane Diop's charges finished the group stage in second place in Group B, with two draws and one victory. Solid, but still with room for improvement in their finishing, the young Senegalese know they have no room for error at this stage of the tournament.
Since 2007, Senegal has never missed a final phase of CAN U17 and this generation intends to perpetuate this tradition of consistency.
Opposite, Guinea-Bissau, impressive since the start of the competition (two wins and a draw), presents itself as a real outsider. Undefeated, the young Bissau-Guineans aim to write a historical page, by obtaining their qualification for the U17 CAN for the first time.
The Lionceaux will therefore have to demonstrate concentration, realism and intensity to overcome this obstacle and reach the final, and ride the wave of success of Senegalese football which has secured a third consecutive qualification for the senior World Cup.
In the other semi-final, scheduled for 7 p.m., host country Mali, the favorite, will face Guinea. A promising duel between two teams with a well-oiled game.
The winners of these two matches will secure their ticket to the U17 AFCON and will face off on Saturday for the title of UFOA-A zone champion.
