Derby Casa Sports – Jaraaf 14e journée Ligue 1 : Retour sur l’analyse des coaches
The clash, or derby, between the green and white teams lived up to all expectations during the 14th round of the Pro League at the Stade Aline Sitoé yesterday, Sunday. A hard-fought match between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw.
Following the match, each coach drew lessons from what many consider one of the great derbies of the Ligue Pro championship.
First of all, I want to say well done to my players who believed until the very end.
The head coach of Casa Sports' flagship club, Balla Djiba, particularly noted the positive reaction of his players in the second half, after having been behind in the score.
"As you saw, we struggled, but we had chances to kill the game in the first 20 minutes. Those were clear-cut opportunities, so to say that football is cruel is unfair. Then Jaraaf scored on a penalty, and that happens in difficult moments. We went into halftime down 1-0. In the locker room, we had a lot of discussions with the players and worked out strategies. We first had to get back into the game. Unfortunately, Jaraaf had a very good defense. Today, we're not complaining, especially with Bouba's magnificent last goal," reacted the Casa Sport coach after the match.
According to Balla Djiba, his team demonstrated its ability to react like the great teams and come back to equalize in the final minutes of the game.
"At one point, Casa was losing matches, drawing at the end of the match. Today, Casa was able, at least, to show that it is a great team, and to equalize right at the end of the match," he offered as an analysis.
On the Jaraaf side, the coach regretted the goal conceded at the very end of the match and acknowledged the somewhat bitter result of the draw. "First, we'll take the result. A draw for us, which could have been a victory. Unfortunately, conceding a goal at the end of the game, a goal that came out of nowhere, can still hurt," reacted Souleymane Dialla unequivocally.
The Jaraaf coach also considers it all part of the game, the nature of football. Nevertheless, he believes his players lacked mental fortitude at a certain point in the match. "It's the law of the game, so we have to accept it. [...] People say football is all about mentality. It's 80% mental. That's what it all comes down to. We play for 95-96 minutes, we have to be focused on the objective. But conceding a goal like that at the end of the game still hurts. I think we have to learn from our mistakes. We conceded early against Pikine, and now we concede late in the game. They know we have lapses in our play, and that's not good. At the highest level, you pay the price. I think we were victims of that today," analyzed Souleymane Dialla, the head coach of the green and white team, Jaraaf.
