Abdoulaye Fall has claimed a resounding victory as president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). Faced with accusations of corruption that followed his election, the new head of Senegalese football has chosen to respond publicly.
In an interview with Canal+, he defended the legitimacy of his success, attributing it to his influence on regional leagues and his experience within the governing body.
"I don't understand those who are spreading this information (about corruption). It only tarnishes Senegal's image," he said, dismissing accusations made by some of his rivals, including Madi Touré, his main opponent.
Recalling his career, Abdoulaye Fall emphasized his role as sponsor of the regional leagues for the past six years, which he said has consolidated his support. "In Sédhiou, I obtained 100% of the votes," he said, before assuring that he "controlled all the leagues in Senegal."
And to challenge his rivals: "Let them tell me if there is a single league that they control."
Convinced of his victory even before the election, Fall said he had the support of almost all league presidents, with the exception of three. "From the start, I knew I was going to win," he insisted.
The FSF's Executive Committee validated his election, thus confirming his installation at the head of the institution. But the controversy has not yet died down. His opponent, Madi Touré, has already announced his intention to continue the fight, believing that the electoral process lacked transparency.
