FC Barcelona: Open war between goalkeeper Ter Stegen and club directors

FC Barcelone : Guerre ouverte entre le gardien Ter Stegen et les dirigeants du club

Nothing is going well between FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen and the club's management. The German player refused to sign the consent form yesterday, Monday, authorizing officials to submit the report on his lumbar surgery to the La Liga Medical Commission.

This is a first in the history of the Spanish league. No player has ever opposed this bureaucratic procedure. The Catalan club, disconcerted, announced that it would immediately initiate disciplinary proceedings against its goalkeeper. It considers the 33-year-old German goalkeeper to be acting in bad faith.

The visible part of the iceberg

It's worth noting that Ter Stegen's post-operative medical report should allow La Liga to determine the length of his unavailability. If it's four months or more, it's considered long-term. This will allow Barça to register goalkeeper Joan Garcia. The club hopes that Ter Stegen will eventually reconsider his position and sign the consent form, once he understands the consequences of his refusal.

This dispute between FC Barcelona and its goalkeeper is just the tip of the iceberg. The two parties have been at odds since the signing of Joan Garcia. The club's management then decided to put Ter Stegen on the transfer market.

Unhappy, the star announced, without involving the club, that she would undergo surgery and would only be out for three months. Barça, shocked, stripped her of the captain's armband.

As a reminder, Ter Stegen joined the Catalan club in 2014. He won the 2015 Champions League under Luis Enrique.
