Finale Ligue des champions : Arsenal enregistre un forfait de taille
A major blow for Arsenal on the eve of the Champions League final. English defender Ben White is out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
The 28-year-old defender was injured last Sunday during the Gunners' victory against West Ham United (1-0). Injured in the first half, he left the London Stadium with a knee brace, quickly causing concern within the London club.
In an official statement, Arsenal confirmed that their defender suffered a "significant injury to the medial collateral ligament," an injury that will keep him out of the last two Premier League matches as well as the Champions League final scheduled for May 30.
This season, Ben White has played 30 matches in all competitions. Having gradually returned to Arsenal's starting eleven, he had started the club's last five matches, although he only started nine Premier League games.
Mikel Arteta's men remain in contention for their first English league title in 22 years. Two wins against Burnley FC and Crystal Palace in the final matches could secure them the national crown.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, a first for the London club in two decades.
This injury also jeopardizes Ben White's chances of participating in the 2026 World Cup. England manager Thomas Tuchel will announce his squad on May 22 for the tournament being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
