Football: La subvention de la FSF aux Ligues régionales suscite colère et incompréhension
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is facing a wave of discontent within the regional leagues following the disbursement of the first installment of subsidies for the current season. The issue stems from the fact that several local officials consider the amounts far too low, falling short of initial promises.
At the Dakar League, the disappointment is palpable. "The president promised a subsidy of 100 million FCFA to the Dakar League. We are almost in the second half of the championship and he is giving us 12 million FCFA in subsidies," laments a member of the League, denouncing a considerable gap between the announced commitments and the reality of the transfers made.
In response to these criticisms, the FSF issued an official statement to clarify the situation. The federation indicated that it had made a total transfer of 91 million FCFA, corresponding to the first installment of the subsidy allocated to the country's 14 regional leagues.
"The Senegalese Football Federation informs the Leagues that it has made a transfer of 91,000,000 CFA francs, representing the first installment of the subsidy intended for the various regional Leagues," the statement specifies.
The FSF also reiterates that these funds are strictly intended for the administrative operations of the Leagues and the financing of their sporting activities, particularly the organization of local competitions. The release of the second installment remains contingent upon the submission of the required supporting documents.
According to the figures provided, this first tranche varies between 9 and 12 million FCFA per League, amounts which are struggling to convince regional leaders, who are facing increasing expenses in the middle of the season.
While the Federation assures that this subsidy will allow the Leagues to "hold their competitions under good conditions," unease remains. With the decisive phase of the championships approaching, the question of funding for local football is more sensitive than ever, revealing a persistent rift between the FSF and its grassroots structures.
