Football : Mayacine Mar s'offre un nouveau défi en Ouganda
After 12 years at the helm of Senegal's National Technical Directorate (DTN), Mayacine Mar is exporting his expertise to East Africa. L'Observateur reports that he has just sealed a strategic partnership with the Ugandan Football Federation. This transfer of expertise aims to allow Uganda to draw inspiration from the Senegalese model in order to sustainably structure its football and take a significant step forward on the continental stage.
This partnership, which will run alongside his role as advisor to the president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Fall, is based on three main pillars. First, it aims to strengthen the training of coaches through certification and skills development for local coaches. Second, the Senegalese coach will contribute his experience in structuring academies, with the ambition of developing high-performing training centers inspired by recognized models such as Diambars and Génération Foot. Finally, he will act as a strategic advisor to the various Ugandan national teams to build a coherent and competitive playing style capable of long-term success, as detailed by the daily newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM).
The same source adds that through this collaboration, Uganda hopes to acquire a genuine "method" for success. Under Mayacine Mar's leadership between 2012 and 2024, Senegal experienced one of the most glorious periods in its football history. The Lions won two Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2022 and 2025, as well as the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2023, while the youth teams also shone with continental titles for the U17 and U20 teams. At the same time, the country participated in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups and has already secured its qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
This dynamic has allowed Senegal to establish itself permanently at the top of African football, occupying the position of first nation on the continent in the FIFA ranking, confirming the effectiveness of the technical model put in place during this period, praises the title of Gfm.
