France : Samuel Umtiti met un terme à sa carrière
Following Steve Mandanda, another French international has decided to end his football career: Samuel Umtiti.
The Yaoundé (Cameroon) native, world champion with the French team in 2018, is retiring at just 31 years old. The former FC Barcelona player has often been hampered by recurring injuries throughout his career.
"After an intense career with its ups and downs, the time has come to say goodbye," the Frenchman announced on Instagram on Monday. "I gave it my all with passion and I have no regrets. I would like to thank all the clubs, presidents, coaches, and players I have been able to work with."
Trained at Olympique Lyonnais, then spent time at FC Barcelona, Samuel Umtiti seemed to have overcome the knee problems that had hampered a large part of his career after winning the World Cup with Les Bleus in 2018. During the 2018 World Cup, he distinguished himself by scoring the only goal in the semi-final against Belgium, which sent France to the final.

On oubliera jamais son but à la Coupe du Monde en 2018 contre la Belgique.
Les jeunes joueurs devraient s'inspirer de lui !
Bonne retraite, tu l'as largement mérité !
