Ligue 1 française : Le PSG et Dembélé tetanisent Marseille
Observers of French football may have just witnessed the most one-sided Classique in the last fifty years. Led by a brilliant Ousmane Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain comfortably defeated an unrecognizable Marseille side (5-0).
The first half already foreshadowed the Parisian demonstration. In the 12th minute, Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring, giving his team an ideal start. PSG's dominance materialized again in the 37th minute when Mayulu doubled the lead with a perfectly weighted assist.
Upon returning from the locker room, Marseille were completely overwhelmed. Argentine defender Medina increased the scoreline with an own goal (64th minute). Two minutes later, Kvaratskhelia sealed the victory with Paris' fourth goal. Substitute Kang-In Lee joined the party, scoring the fifth goal.
With this resounding victory, PSG confirms its clear supremacy over its historic rival, against an Olympique de Marseille side that was virtually nonexistent tonight at the Parc des Princes. Given the intense rivalry between the two clubs, this heavy defeat is likely to have serious repercussions for the Marseille team.
