Guédiawaye FC : L’entraîneur Aliou Mbaye jette l’éponge
The crisis had been brewing for several weeks at Guédiawaye FC. It finally erupted. Despite a resounding victory against Dakar Sacré-Cœur FC (3-0) last weekend, the club from the Dakar suburbs is going through a particularly difficult period.
Last in the standings after a very complicated first half of the season, Guédiawaye FC has just recorded the resignation of its head coach and general manager, Aliou Mbaye.
In a letter addressed to the club's management, the coach officially announced his departure, citing two major reasons.
The first issue concerns the insufficient sporting results, deemed below the objectives set at the beginning of the season. The second, more structural, relates to deep disagreements regarding recruitment during the transfer window. Aliou Mbaye specifically denounces the signing of players not approved by the coaching staff, as well as the abandonment of certain targets recommended by the staff.
"I hereby formally submit my resignation letter from the position of head coach and general manager of Guédiawaye FC," he wrote, hoping that his decision would be accepted by the management.
A sober but meaningful exit, in an internal context marked by persistent tensions.
Before turning the page, Aliou Mbaye wanted to express his gratitude to the club president and the entire sports management team, led by Samba Dièye, for the trust placed in him and his staff throughout his time there.
This resignation now opens a new phase of uncertainty for GFC, which is called upon to react quickly in order to turn things around and save its season.
