Guerschon Yabusele aux Chicago Bulls: « Un nouveau chapitre, la même détermination »

While at the Barclays Center, the French power forward spoke with Seneweb. Freshly traded to the Chicago Bulls, the "Dancing Bear" offered a clear and unfiltered perspective on his current situation and ambitions.
For Guerschon Yabusele, American basketball is a true school of resilience. Having just arrived in Illinois, the Congolese-born center has no illusions about the harsh realities of the NBA business, starting with his mid-season trades.
"We tell ourselves that it happens to everyone. It happened before us, it will happen after us. No one is going to feel sorry for us, that's just how it is. So there you have it, you have to push on, it's part of the game."
A real turning point for him occurred last year, during the general shock caused by Luka Dončić's transfer from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers. Yabusele derived a simple but essential rule from this:
"At that moment, I thought to myself: no one is ever safe. We know the business side of things. There's not much to do except accept it, keep working, and stay positive."
In Chicago, Yabusele joins a team undergoing a complete rebuild. With seven new players on the roster, the priority is clear: to create automatic plays and a real team cohesion.

"We're really trying to build relationships to better understand each other on the field, to know who does what. But for now, it's going well. We're progressing from match to match."
His time with the New York Knicks is now behind him. Without bitterness, the Frenchman prefers to look to the future:
"It was still a good experience, there are things to learn. But now, I'm focused on the end of the season to finish very strong with Chicago."
It's impossible to talk about Guerschon Yabusele without mentioning an iconic moment: his dunk over LeBron James at the Tokyo Olympics, a symbol of his audacity and impact at the highest level. After two silver medals with the French national team, the goal of Olympic gold remains clear, even if the road ahead is long.
"We'll have to do a lot of things. It's always complicated to reach the final. The road is very long. But deep down, I really think we have what it takes to give ourselves a chance to be there. Now, we'll have to work every day."
Proud of his journey within legendary East Coast franchises, Guerschon Yabusele begins this new chapter in Chicago with the same humility, the same power and an undiminished determination, like a player who has become a symbol for the diaspora and for an entire generation.
