Football : Sadio Mané annonce sa retraite internationale
Senegal's iconic striker and two-time African Footballer of the Year, Sadio Mané, has announced his retirement from the national team in a statement seen by Le Quotidien. This decision comes directly after the Lions' failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
In his farewell letter, the two-time winner of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), in 2021 and 2025, expressed his gratitude to the Senegalese people for their constant support, while highlighting the dedication and sacrifices made for the national flag throughout his career.
A career change already being considered
Although he is retiring from international football, the Lions' number 10 has clearly stated his desire to remain involved in Senegalese football. Sadio Mané has announced his intention to use his extensive experience to contribute to local development, opening the door to future responsibilities within a technical staff, as a coach, or in the governing bodies of national sport.
