The NBA has formalized a multi-year partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), now the Official Cloud and Cloud AI Partner of the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and BAL (Basketball Africa League).

At the center of this collaboration is NBA Inside the Game powered by AWS, an artificial intelligence platform that will transform billions of data points into unprecedented analytics and interactive experiences for fans.

Unprecedented advanced statistics

From the 2025-26 season, new statistics will be released:

Defensive Box Score: Measures the actual defensive impact of each player.

Shot Difficulty: Rates the difficulty of each shot using an “Expected FG%”.

Gravity: Quantifies the defensive attention a star attracts and the space freed up for his teammates.

These innovations will enhance broadcasts and will be available on the NBA app, NBA.com and the league's social media channels, which will also be accessible to BAL fans.

Play Finder: A Unique Tool

The NBA is also launching Play Finder, which will allow users to find similar plays across thousands of games with one click. This innovation will benefit NBA commentators, coaches, and teams, while making the fan experience more educational and interactive.

A global vision that includes Africa

This partnership confirms the NBA's global ambition. With AWS, the league aims to improve the fan experience worldwide. Thanks to the BAL, Africa is also benefiting from these technological innovations.
