Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor : Vol spectaculaire de la table de mixage de la salle de conférence
The Office for the Management of Sports Infrastructure (OGIS), under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, filed a complaint against persons unknown last Friday at the Parcelles-Assainies district police station. The complaint concerns the theft of a mixing console intended for the sound system in the conference room of the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium, according to Seneweb sources.
It was Y. SY, the OGIS operations and maintenance director, who went to the police station to file the complaint. According to his statements to investigators, on December 18, 2025, at around 8 p.m., A. Diatta, a staff member and manager of the stadium's conference room, noticed the disappearance of the sound system mixing console.
Mr. SY was immediately informed of the situation and went to the scene to make a visual observation and confirm the theft of the equipment.
Surveillance cameras reveal the suspect
Reviewing the surveillance camera footage from the stadium building led to the identification of a suspect. The images revealed that an individual infiltrated a ceremony organized the same day, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., by the National Association of Retired Youth and Sports Inspectors. This day of reflection focused on the theme of education for active citizenship in Senegal.
The individual suspected of committing the theft was neither a stadium staff member, nor a participant, nor an invitee to the event. He managed to evade the organizers' vigilance to gain access to the conference room.
At the end of the ceremony, the suspect remained alone in the room to prepare his attack. His silhouette was captured thanks to a camera installed at the entrance. The footage describes him as a tall man with dreadlocks, wearing a black shirt and jeans.
Although barely visible and far from a good range of view on the second camera, the suspect concealed the stolen equipment in a bag before fleeing through exits corresponding to the blind spots of the stadium, thus escaping complete surveillance.
Damages estimated at 500,000 CFA francs
The stolen equipment is valued at between 400,000 and 500,000 CFA francs. This complaint was filed to obtain compensation for the damages suffered by OGIS, according to Seneweb sources.
The Public Prosecutor has been informed of this case and an investigation has been opened to identify and arrest the suspect, whose composite sketch was able to be established thanks to the video recordings.
