The 22 players began this intense match in sweltering heat. Linguère opened the scoring through Papa Amadou Diop. The young winger for Samba Linguère capitalized on a hesitation in the Mbour defense to beat goalkeeper Mouhamadou Talla Mbaye in the 9th minute.
Far from being stunned by the opening goal, Stade de Mbour responded quickly. Dominating in midfield, particularly in possession, the Mbourois deservedly equalized through Cheikhou Tamba. The Mbour captain capitalized on a poor clearance by the opposing defense to finish with his left foot (24th minute).
Four minutes later, the Mbour midfielder distinguished himself again by giving his team the lead, scoring his second personal goal of the match (28th).
In the second half, Stade de Mbour created several opportunities to extend their lead, but their attackers lacked clinical finishing. This lack of efficiency would prove costly at the end of the match.
Indeed, Mouhamed Mbaye, who came on as a substitute, allowed Linguère to equalize with a beautiful left-footed strike in the 84th minute.
Even though they leave Saint-Louis with a valuable point (2-2), the Mbour players can feel regret given the numerous missed opportunities.
