Ligue 1 - 4e journée – Linguère-US Gorée : Ousmane Mbengue écœure les Samba Linguère
After a season's absence, Linguère returned to their home ground, the Mawade Wade stadium, to face US Gorée. Watched by Mayor Mansour Faye and Governor Al Hassan Sall, the 22 players kicked off the match.
Gorée, fresh from a fine victory against Dakar Sacré-Cœur, quickly opened the scoring through Ousmane Mbengue. The captain, with a masterful free kick, beat Linguère's goalkeeper, Serigne Saliou Mbacké Fall (4th minute). Slightly stunned by this early goal, the Saint-Louis players struggled to find their rhythm, confusing speed with haste.
In the second half, US Gorée earned a free kick on their first attacking move. Ousmane Mbengue, with a powerful shot, once again beat the opposing goalkeeper (50th minute).
Thanks to a brace from their captain and playmaker, US Gorée won in Saint-Louis and secured a third consecutive victory, moving into first place in the standings with 10 points.
