Ligue des champions : Mohamed Salah devient le joueur le plus capé de Liverpool en C1
Starting on Tuesday night in Istanbul during the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Galatasaray SK (1-0 defeat), Mohamed Salah took another step in the European history of Liverpool FC.
The 33-year-old Egyptian striker played his 81st Champions League match for the Reds, a total that now makes him the club's most capped player in the competition.
With this additional appearance, the “Pharaoh” surpasses the club’s previous record holder, former English defender Jamie Carragher, who played 80 Champions League matches with Liverpool between 1996 and 2013.
Already a key figure in the club's European history, Mohamed Salah also holds Liverpool's record for most goals in the Champions League, with 46 in the competition. This is further proof of the Egyptian international's major impact on the Reds' continental campaign in recent years.
