Marseille : Habib Bèye règle ses comptes avec la presse
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Habib Bèye firmly responded to rumors of tension within the Olympique de Marseille dressing room. The Senegalese coach of OM denounced the unfounded reports, which surfaced after the 1-1 draw against OGC Nice.
In recent days, several media outlets have reported alleged friction between the coach and some players, notably Mason Greenwood and Algerian international Himad Abdelli. Tensions during training and heated exchanges in the locker room have reportedly fueled speculation about a divided squad.
Faced with these allegations, Habib Bèye felt compelled to set the record straight. Visibly annoyed, he pointed to a lack of rigor among certain journalists.
"When you don't have the information, you shouldn't try to invent it. Sometimes it's enough to check directly with the players or their entourage," he said, regretting the spread of "lies" around him and the group.
The former Senegalese international did, however, acknowledge that pressure is a natural part of dressing room life. "There are always tensions, with different personalities and egos. But that doesn't mean a group is exploding," he clarified, dismissing the idea of an internal crisis.
Determined to refocus the discussion on the pitch, Bèye emphasized the importance of the last three matches of the season. Currently lagging behind in the race for their objectives, OM absolutely must secure nine points to have any hope of moving closer to the podium. "Without these victories, it will be difficult to achieve our ambitions," he warned.
The next match against FC Nantes on Saturday will already be crucial to reviving Marseille's momentum.
