Having become a true popular icon thanks to his still and solemn posture, inspired by the father of Congolese independence, Patrice Lumumba, the emblematic supporter was officially honored by the authorities of his country.

Despite the Democratic Republic of Congo's Leopards being eliminated in the round of 16 by Algeria (1-0 after extra time), Michel Kuka received significant recognition. The Congolese Minister of Sports, Didier Budimbu, presented him with a Jeep as a token of appreciation for his commitment and the exceptional visibility he brought to the country's image during the competition.
