Mbappé réclame 240 millions d'euros au PSG qui en demande lui 180
Paris-SG has asked Kylian Mbappé for 180 million euros in compensation for a failed transfer after an offer from the Saudi club Al Hilal of 300 million euros, which was rejected by the player, in July 2023, PSG lawyers argued on Monday before the Paris labor court.
The request from the European champion club, in dispute with its former star player since the summer of 2023, responds to the 240 million euros claimed by Mbappé, notably for the reclassification of his fixed-term contract into a permanent one and for the moral harassment he believes he suffered at the end of his contract.
In the Parisian offices of the labor court, unaccustomed to handling such high-profile cases, the lawyers for Paris Saint-Germain, who had turned out in force, attempted to create a stir by asking the labor court to relinquish jurisdiction over the case to the Paris judicial court, which had already been seized of the matter, for the same reason, they argued. The request was denied.
The orientation hearing before the Paris judicial court, which is still ongoing and was scheduled to take place in May, has been postponed.
In the labor court, the debates were able to begin a little before 4 p.m., with the president of the council reminding both parties that they would only have one hour each for pleading.
The dispute has long poisoned the star's relationship with his former club. The striker was sidelined from the first team at the start of the 2023-24 season by PSG because he wanted to see out his contract until the summer of 2024, while ruling out any extension. Mbappé was ultimately reinstated after the first matchday of the season.
PSG maintains that this reinstatement was the result of an agreement between the two parties stipulating that the player would have to forgo a portion of the sums owed at the end of his contract to protect the club's financial health. A "fantasy," according to Mbappé's camp.
The captain of Les Bleus, who finally joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, at the end of his contract without a transfer fee for PSG, is thus claiming 55 million euros in unpaid bonuses and salaries, asserting on the contrary that no agreement to waive them existed between him and the club, according to his entourage.
Kylian Mbappé's advisors have calculated that if his fixed-term contract is reclassified as a permanent contract, in addition to the damages suffered, the sum owed by the club to the player would amount to 240 million euros.
The decision of the labor court is not expected for several weeks.
