Meeting d'Ourense : Louis François Mendy pulvérise son record et file aux Mondiaux
On Saturday, February 21st, Louis François Mendy achieved a remarkable feat at the Ourense International Meeting in Spain. The Senegalese hurdler crossed the finish line in 7.63 seconds in the 60m indoor hurdles, beating his own personal and national record of 7.68 seconds, set a month earlier in Nantes. This performance officially qualifies him for the World Indoor Championships.
A hurdles specialist, Mendy is no stranger to impressive performances. In 2023, he made a name for himself by breaking the national record in the 110m hurdles (13.18 seconds) at the African Championships. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, he shone from the heats of the 110m hurdles. With a time of 13.31 seconds against renowned competitors, he confidently advanced to the Olympic semi-finals.
Trained at the African Athletics Development Centre (AADC) in Dakar, Mendy is now confirming his status as a leading figure in Senegalese athletics. His mastery of technique and consistency make him a serious contender for international podium finishes, notes Le Soleil.
