Mercato: Habib Bèye out, Bruno Genesio va prendre les commandes de l'OM
Marseille will appoint Bruno Genesio as their new manager, replacing Habib Beye. The former Lille coach had already announced his departure from the North and was considered the favorite for the job.
Marseille have their new coach. Former Lille coach Bruno Genesio will take over the Marseille bench next season, succeeding Habib Beye, whose chaotic end to the season failed to convince the club's management to extend his contract.
As mentioned on After Foot, Bruno Genesio was in pole position in recent days to land the OM coaching job, with new president Stéphane Richard even making it his top priority. But the former Lille player was also on the radar of other clubs, such as Paris FC and Monaco.
No Champions League
The deliberations of the Marseille decision-makers have finally led to a consensus around the name of the coach, who will therefore be taking on a fourth Ligue 1 bench after those of OL, Stade Rennais and now LOSC.
On the shores of the Mediterranean, Bruno Genesio will not have the opportunity to compete in the Champions League this season, as OM failed to qualify for the next round of the group stage, unlike LOSC. But the new Marseille coach will be eager to return to the Champions League the following season, while also aiming for a successful run in the Europa League.
