Mercato: Semenyo aurait choisi Manchester City, vente record en vue pour Bournemouth
According to several English media outlets, including Sky Sports, Antoine Semenyo wants to join Manchester City during this winter transfer window. The 25-year-old Ghanaian winger, currently playing for Bournemouth, is the third-highest scorer in the Premier League so far this season.
Antoine Semenyo is expected to be one of the main attractions of this winter transfer window. Three years after joining Bournemouth from Bristol City for €10 million, the Ghanaian winger is reportedly close to joining Manchester City, according to several English media outlets. The 25-year-old has apparently chosen to join the Citizens rather than Manchester United. Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea have also reportedly expressed interest.
Antoine Semenyo has a release clause of €74.5 million, but it expires on January 10th. Under contract until 2030, the Ghanaian international (32 caps) has made 17 appearances for Bournemouth this season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. He is currently the third-highest scorer in the English Premier League, behind Erling Haaland (Manchester City) and Igor Thiago (Brentford).
In the Premier League opening match, Antoine Semenyo had already distinguished himself with a brace in Bournemouth's 4-2 defeat to defending champions Liverpool. Not involved in the Africa Cup of Nations since Ghana failed to qualify, the winger scored his team's goal on Saturday in their 1-1 draw against Burnley.
Record sales expected
With this transfer, the London native would undoubtedly take his game to another level. Manchester City are second in the Premier League after 17 matchdays, while Bournemouth sit in 15th place. Since Pep Guardiola took over as Manchester City manager, the Sky Blues have won the league title six times.
During the last summer transfer window, Bournemouth already sold several players, including Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi, who joined PSG for €63 million. In total, the Cherries have earned over €238 million. Another big sale therefore seems imminent. A record is expected to fall for the Cherries, who sold Dominic Solanke to Tottenham for €64.3 million in the summer of 2024. Bournemouth are reportedly waiting for a fee close to the release clause to sell Semenyo.
