Singers Madonna and Shakira and K-pop group BTS will headline the half-time show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in the United States, organizers announced Thursday.

Chris Martin of Coldplay will be the artistic director of this show, a first for a FIFA World Cup final. The final is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The 2026 World Cup, the largest in history with 48 participating teams, kicks off on June 11 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced in March that it would include "the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup final."

This initiative echoes the show organized, featuring Shakira, during the Copa América final at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium last year.

It also refers to the tradition of a prestigious halftime show during the Super Bowl, the final of the American football championship.
