Navetanes à Rufisque : Deux policiers blessés lors d'échauffourées entre supporters
The departmental stages of the popular football championship known as "Navetanes" were marked by violent incidents on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Galandou Diouf stadium in Rufisque. Two police officers were injured during clashes between rival supporters, leading to the arrest of three people.
To supervise these matches, one hundred elements of the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI) were deployed, reinforced by fifteen elements of the urban corps and the research brigade of the central police station of Rufisque.
Two football matches were scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., pitting ASC Lebougui from the Dangou district against ASC Door Fopp from the Mérina district.
Around noon, towards the end of the match, scuffles broke out between supporters of the two rival teams. The tension that had been simmering since the beginning of the match degenerated into clashes with projectiles being thrown. It was under these circumstances that two GMI agents were targeted and injured by projectiles thrown by angry supporters, according to Seneweb sources.
The SD police officer of the 16th Company, who was injured on the right temple and had a graze on his scalp, and the AD trainee police officer of the 16th Company, who was injured on the forehead and right eyebrow, received first aid on the spot before being referred to the medical center at Abdou Diassé Camp for further medical examinations. Their injuries are described as minor.
Three alleged perpetrators of the disturbances were arrested and taken to the Rufisque central police station. They are Ndèye TM, 25, a student living in Dangou Haloir, D. Guèye, 39, a municipal employee living in Dangou Nord, and O. Mbengue, 23, a tiler living in Dangou.
