NBA: Chris Paul mis à la porte par les Clippers
Chris Paul, 40, who returned to the Los Angeles Clippers this summer, has been fired by his NBA franchise, with a specialized media outlet reporting on Wednesday deep disagreements between the American point guard and the coach of the Californian team, which is struggling for results.
"I just found out I'm being sent home," the player, second-best passer in NBA history, wrote on his social media in the middle of Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, revealing that he had left his teammates in Atlanta, where they are scheduled to face the Hawks.
The information was later confirmed by the Clippers. "We are parting ways with Chris, he is no longer part of the team," the franchise's president of basketball operations, Lawrence Frank, told American media.
At 40 years old, Chris Paul had made his return last summer to the Clippers, a franchise where he had already played for six seasons, with the apparent desire to spend one last year there before retiring.
Although the LA team has completely missed its start to the season - it is 13th in the Western conference with five wins in 21 games - Lawrence Frank has assured that Chris Paul, who has only been used off the bench, is not held primarily responsible.
"Chris is a legendary Clipper who had a memorable career. I'll be clear on one point, no one blames him for our poor performance," the executive said.
According to the sports channel ESPN, this decision comes after a period of intense tension between Paul and Clippers coach Tyronn Lue, with the two men not speaking to each other for "several weeks".
The 2013 All-Star Game MVP reached the playoffs in each of his six seasons with the Clippers, from 2011 to 2017, but never advanced beyond the conference semifinals. He averaged 2.9 points and 3.3 assists in 14.3 minutes per game this season.

Tyronn Lue kou jotek mome ya ko togne si li me yakar. Un vieux lion est toujours tres colereux faute de pouvoir mordre un bon morceau de viande. Sinon CP3 a toujours ete un garcon tres correct avec des allures de baskerteur senegalais.
