NBA : Detroit terrasse Orlando et retrouvera Cleveland en demi-finale de conférence Est

The Detroit Pistons crushed the Orlando Magic 116-94 on Sunday to cap a remarkable comeback in the playoffs and secure an Eastern Conference semi-final against Cleveland.

At home, the Cleveland Cavaliers withstood Toronto's excellent start to beat the Raptors 114-102 and secure a 4-3 victory in a series where the home team has won every game.

Detroit, first in the Eastern Conference at the end of the regular season, becomes the 14th team in playoff history to win a series after being down 3-1.

Paolo Banchero, the Magic's star power forward, scored the Floridians' first 11 points to put them in the lead after six minutes of play (11-10) and then at the end of the first quarter (22-20), but the Pistons quickly brought things back into line.

Led by their All-Star point guard Cade Cunningham -- his team's top scorer with 32 points -- and Tobias Harris (30), and despite the danger posed by Banchero who scored another 12 points in the second quarter, the Pistons reached halftime with a comfortable 11-point lead (60-49).

In the third quarter, the Michigan franchise completely stifled the Magic, who scored only 15 points, and extended their lead to 19 points (83-64).

Enough to see what was coming, and to maintain the advantage until the end, against a Magic team where Banchero, who scored 38 points, was the only one to stand out.

"They really pushed us to our limits," Cunningham said. "We grew a lot thanks to this series, thanks to this team." The Pistons, who openly dream of a title, now see the Cleveland Cavaliers standing in their way.

The Cavs fight back

Led by a virtuoso performance from center Jarrett Allen, the "Cavs" swept the Raptors for the fourth time in four playoff encounters.

Cleveland erased an initial 10-point deficit to reach halftime at 49-49, before starting the third quarter with a 9-0 run. The Cavs outscored the Raptors 38-19 in that third quarter, with Allen scoring 14 of his 22 points and grabbing 10 of his 19 rebounds during that period.

"I just wanted to show my teammates that we could win this game," explained Allen, who also recorded two steals and three blocks. His dominance on the boards allowed the Cavs to win the rebounding battle 60-33. In a Game 7, "every possession can mean the end of the season," added Allen, "energy and effort are what win games, and if you do that on defense, it all carries over to the offense."

Donovan Mitchell, who added 22 points for Cleveland, was catapulted to the third row of spectators after a spectacular steal early in the third quarter. Fortunately, he was unharmed.

Scottie Barnes finished as the game's top scorer with 24 points for the Raptors, but accumulating fouls kept him on the bench for long stretches in the second half, penalizing his team.
