Olympique de Marseille : pourquoi le dossier Habib Beye coince
Olympique de Marseille (OM) continues to make headlines. While the club is searching for a successor to Roberto De Zerbi, Habib Beye's name has emerged as the top priority. A preliminary agreement has reportedly been reached between the Senegalese coach and the Marseille management. However, at this stage, nothing is yet official. The reason: a legal dispute with Stade Rennais.
Sacked on February 12 by the Breton club, the 48-year-old coach failed to reach an agreement during a hearing before the legal committee of the Professional Football League.
Without an official letter of contract termination, it's impossible for him to sign with Marseille. However, Rennes' management theoretically has one month after the preliminary meeting to notify him of this termination. As things stand, the matter is therefore pending administrative approval.
The question is whether Stade Rennais has any interest in keeping a coach they no longer wish to retain? Especially since relations between Rennes and Marseille are considered cordial. The two clubs recently presented a united front, alongside Le Havre AC and RC Lens, by signing an opinion piece in Le Monde advocating for structural reform of French football.
