OM: "IL NOUS EXPLIQUE TELLEMENT LES CHOSES QUE JE NE COMPRENDS RIEN", DUPRAZ RÈGLE SES COMPTES AVEC BEYE
In the aftermath of OM's defeat in Lorient (2-0) during the 30th day of Ligue 1, Pascal Dupraz strongly criticized Habib Beye during the Grandes Gueules du Sport on RMC this Sunday.
Pascal Dupraz is not mincing words when it comes to Habib Beye . Appointed on February 18th as head coach of OM , the former Rennes manager is experiencing a difficult start to his tenure in Marseille. This Saturday, the club from the south of France was defeated in Lorient (2-0) during the 30th matchday of Ligue 1, and is now virtually out of contention in the race for a top-three finish and direct qualification for the Champions League.
Against Lorient, Marseille once again displayed defensive frailties, with sterile attacking dominance. "In terms of our play, we see nothing," Dupraz declared this Sunday on RMC's Grandes Gueules du Sport program. "Yet, God knows Habib Beye explains things to us. He explains them so much that I don't understand a thing."
"Perhaps this is modern football, but I don't understand it at all," Pascal Dupraz emphasized. "Half-spaces, boxes or no boxes, formations with hybrid systems... Apparently, hybrid doesn't last very long. Give us some diesel, some petrol, but tell us the truth. Give us a team that gets into the opposition's half and shows its superiority."
Having transitioned to a consultant role after his playing career, Habib Beye was appointed to head Rennes in January 2025, for his first experience in Ligue 1. Sacked by the Breton club on February 9, he immediately returned to Marseille, which he dreamed of managing.
"I'm sorry to speak like this about a colleague," Dupraz continued, clearly not forgetting Beye's criticisms from his time as a pundit. "I shouldn't, but it's tiring, especially since this colleague, when he was behind a microphone, never failed to tear us French coaches apart, who were so nervous and fearful, lacking in ideas."
In the standings, OM are two points behind LOSC, currently third. Marseille could drop to sixth place this Sunday if OL and Rennes win, respectively against PSG and Strasbourg. "Right now, he's in a bind with his players. Since he's been here, he's lost four matches and won four in Ligue 1," emphasized the former coach of Evian Thonon Gaillard and Toulouse, among others. "He's regressed compared to his predecessor (Roberto De Zerbi, editor's note) who had a 56% win rate in 55 league matches. OM are all over the place, except in the right direction."
