« On a hâte d'y être » : Le message déterminé de Pape Gueye
Speaking to Le Soleil Digital, Pape Guèye rejected the idea of a mixed record for African teams in this World Cup. For the Senegalese midfielder, the results achieved so far illustrate the progress of African football on the world stage. "I don't think the record is mixed. African teams are evolving, and they're showing it in this tournament. Now, it's up to us to do what's necessary against France."
Born in France but a Senegalese international, Pape Gueye acknowledges the unique nature of this match, while reaffirming his commitment to the Lions. "It's true that I was born in France, but today I am Senegalese and I wear the Senegal jersey. I hope to give everything for this country and for its people."
On the eve of the clash against France, the player insists that the media attention surrounding the match does not create additional pressure. "We're looking forward to playing this type of game. We started playing football to participate in these kinds of competitions. It's a very important match, with a special history, but we're going to play our game and give everything to win."
