Pape Thiaw : «Nous avons des arguments à faire valoir face aux Brésil»

On the eve of the prestigious friendly match against Brazil (Saturday, 4 p.m.), Pape Thiaw, the Senegal coach, held a press conference this Friday. The Lions' coach spoke about this match, which he considers prestigious.

“It’s a prestigious match, it’s Brazil we’re facing, a team that needs no introduction,” he immediately pointed out. Facing the Seleção, Thiaw knows the task will be immense: “They’re a team with perhaps the best coach in the world currently working. We know it will be a difficult match, with many technical and tactical aspects. But we have our strengths to bring to bear. We have a team that’s showing some great things.”

The Senegalese coach also responded to the recent praise from Carlo Ancelotti, who lauded the Lions' collective quality. He welcomed the tribute with satisfaction but also with caution.

“Praise from a coach like Carlo Ancelotti is really pleasing. It means that Senegal is working very well and is putting something extraordinary into it. But we're not going to get hung up on that,” he says.

For Pape Thiaw, this high-level match goes far beyond a friendly. It's part of an ambitious preparation process. "We can learn a lot by playing against Brazil. We're going to the Africa Cup of Nations, where we'll want to represent our nation well. We need to test ourselves against this kind of very strong opponent, who are showing some great things," he concluded.

coach, c'est un match entre vous et votre staff technique et Mr Ancelotti que vous avez bien qualifié. Pour vous ça compte énormément que de battre cet excellent entraineur. Bon vent.
