Partenariat COJOJ-MESRI : L’Université Amadou Mahtar Mbow héritera du village olympique
The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee and the Ministry of Higher Education signed a strategic partnership on Monday, May 4th. The objective is to make the Youth Olympic Games a catalyst for lasting transformation of the university system, with Amadou Mahtar Mbow University (UAM) as a key player.
Beyond the preparation for this international sporting event, this alliance aims to integrate universities, students, teachers and administrative staff into the Olympic dynamic.
This approach is in line with the legacy of the Olympic movement. The ambition is to generate structural benefits: modernized infrastructure, improved quality of service, and increased influence of the university system, transforming the event into a catalyst for progress for future generations.
UAM at the heart of the Olympic system
Already actively involved in the preparations, UAM will host the Youth Olympic Village. Nearly 2,700 athletes and delegation members will be accommodated there during the competition.
Thus, in order to meet these international standards, significant work has been undertaken, including the construction of six new buildings and the rehabilitation of seven other buildings to guarantee optimal reception conditions for delegations from all over the world.
By combining sport, education, and innovation, this COJOJ-MESRI partnership illustrates an integrated approach to development. Dakar 2026 transcends the sporting arena to establish itself as a national project with a strong academic and social impact.
