Invited on the podcast "The Bridge," co-hosted by Aurélien Tchouameni, Paul Pogba discussed his relationship with José Mourinho. The French international admitted that things weren't always smooth sailing between him and the Portuguese manager when they were both at Manchester United.

 

"He looks at me like this. He says, 'You're against us. You were happy we lost.'"

 

The Monaco midfielder recalls a heated argument he had with the coach after a defeat against Derby in the Premier League.

“I arrived after a cup match where I wasn’t playing, but we were winning 1-0 at halftime. I was filming the celebration when my team scored. But you know, sometimes on the pitches, there was no signal. You had to go outside, press the recorder again for the post to work. So, as soon as I left the stadium, I pressed the recorder again. But in the meantime, we lost the match. The coach saw the post. When I arrived, I said hello to everyone, I went to say hello to him, and he looked at me like this. He said, ‘You’re against us. You were happy that we lost,’” Paul Pogba recounted.

The 2018 world champion says he did not immediately grasp his coach's criticisms.   "I look at him and I say: what is he talking about?"

 

Seeing Pogba's signs of surprise, Mourinho said to him: "You posted a video when we lost." The Frenchman replied: "I posted a video when we scored."

Meanwhile, the Portuguese player calls the club's media officer and says, "Paul did that, didn't he?" The latter replies in the affirmative: "Yes, he posted a video."

 

"I said: but I posted a video of the goal," Paul Pogba defended himself. What followed was rather comical.

According to the French international, Mourinho started shouting at the media officer: "Tell him I'm sorry! Why did you say that to me?" Things then calmed down.

Unfortunately, there were cameras filming the scene. So it ended up in the media. For Paul Pogba, it was his "biggest clash" with a coach. And the strangest thing about the whole story is that he "hadn't done anything."
