With six days to go before the start of the 23rd edition of the World Cup, several favorites to win the title played their final warm-up matches. Germany, Portugal, and England took advantage of this to boost their confidence before the start of the competition.
Germany defeated the United States 2-1 thanks to goals from Kai Havertz (2nd minute) and Leroy Sané (57th minute). This is Germany's second consecutive victory, having previously beaten Finland 4-0 on May 31st.
Facing Chile, Portugal also secured a victory, winning 2-1. Gonçalo Guedes (58th minute) and Bruno Fernandes (75th minute) scored the Portuguese goals. Cristiano Ronaldo's men thus notched their second win in as many preparation matches.
England also secured a crucial victory, defeating a tenacious New Zealand side 1-0. Captain Harry Kane delivered the win for the Three Lions, scoring the only goal of the match in stoppage time (45+2).
Thanks to these successes, these three European giants approach the World Cup with more confidence.
Scotland, Morocco's opponent in Group C, also made a strong impression by crushing Bolivia (4-0). Lawrence Shankland (5th), Scott McTominay (23rd) and Ché Adams, who scored twice (30th and 45th), were the Scottish goalscorers.
