Qualification Mondial de basket 2026: Les Lionnes s’inclinent encore face à l’Espagne
The Senegalese women's national basketball team suffered a second consecutive defeat in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Lionesses lost to Spain's La Roja on Thursday in Puerto Rico, 84-51.
After their heavy defeat against the United States (110-46), the Senegalese women were once again outplayed. The Spanish took the lead in the first quarter (25-13) before extending it in the second (17-8). At halftime, Spain already held a commanding lead (42-21).
After returning from the locker room, Spain stepped up the pace and dominated the third quarter (30-13). The Lionesses showed improvement in the fourth quarter, winning 17-12. But the game was already decided. Spain won the match comfortably.
The Senegalese women will need to quickly regroup for the rest of the competition. They will face New Zealand in their third match of the tournament on Saturday at 6 p.m.
