Sénégal vs Bénin (3-0) : Les tops et les flops
A hard-fought victory, but one played with heart. The Senegalese players were pushed hard by a strong Benin side, but ultimately prevailed 3-0 to secure first place in Group D. Here are the highs and lows.
The tops
Édouard Mendy
One save in the first half, then three more outstanding saves in the second half to keep Senegal in the lead. Édouard Mendy was immense in goal. One of the few to have played at his true level tonight. If Senegal finishes top of Group D, it's largely thanks to their goalkeeper's saves.
Ibrahim Mbaye
Once again, it was the 17-year-old who revitalized Senegal's attack. Lively, incisive, and audacious, he was a constant thorn in the side of the Benin defense. He kept trying until the final whistle, before being rewarded with a penalty won and converted by Chérif Ndiaye. With each appearance on the pitch, Mbaye is making a bigger impact.
Abdoulaye Seck
Dominant in the air, in both penalty areas. Facing a Steve Mounié who loves aerial play, Seck was excellent in the duels. He capped off his performance by opening the scoring with a powerful header. He was also precise in his distribution. The Rock finished the match with a 94% pass completion rate.
The flops
Pape Matar Sarr
Tonight, the Tottenham midfielder certainly disappointed the many Senegalese fans who questioned his limited playing time in the first two matches. With little impact on the game, few initiatives, and several fouls committed, Pape Matar seemed lost within the midfield trio.
Lamine Camara
Like Pape Matar Sarr, Camara was overwhelmed by Benin's midfield dominance in the first half. His partnership with the Tottenham player didn't work, and Senegal almost paid the price during the first period. Unfortunately, he was injured in the final minute of the first half.

Illiman Ndiaye est sorti de sa CAN, depuis le premier match, et puis son football spectacle n'est pas fait pour la CAN. Cette compétition est trop physique et on joue avec une touche de balle. Son principal défaut c'est qu'il court toujours la tête baissée. Habib Diallo une seule occasion pour lui il le met au fond, vous voyez comment ça peut soulager l'équipe le fait d'avoir des attaquants qui ne rattent. Koulibaly n'était pas dans son match, je l'avais remarqué dès les 20 min, il était toujours en retard sur les duels, je disais que thiaw devait le sortir finalement le rouge est arrivé. Si j'étais entraineur de cette équipe, elle gagnera toutes les compétitions. Je vois venir les choses de loin c'est incroyable.
L'ossature de l'équipe commence enfin à se dessiner si l'entraîneur est clairvoyant. Cherif Ndiaye a la Baraka, des joueurs comme lui il faut toujours les faire jouer pas parce qu'ils ont les plus talentueux mais ils sont chanceux.
