Strasbourg : Chelsea envisage le rappel de Mamadou Sarr
Looking to bolster their defense during this winter transfer window, Chelsea are struggling to finalize a deal for Stade Rennais' young defender, Jérémy Jacquet. With discussions between the two clubs not yet conclusive, the Blues' management are now exploring other options.
According to RMC, Chelsea are seriously considering recalling Mamadou Sarr (20 years old), currently on loan at RC Strasbourg. A regular starter in Ligue 1 this season and having had an excellent Africa Cup of Nations, the Senegalese central defender has played 14 matches for the Alsatian club, showing remarkable progress.
Highly regarded by Chelsea's new manager, Liam Rosenior, Mamadou Sarr could represent an internal solution to strengthen the central defense of the London club, currently 5th in the Premier League. This option is all the more credible given that the player is already familiar with the environment of the BlueCo group, owners of Chelsea and Strasbourg.
However, the recall of the young defender is not without conditions. Chelsea had considered compensating for his departure by loaning Aaron Anselmino, recently returned from Dortmund, to Strasbourg. This proposal was ultimately rejected by the Argentinian defender, complicating discussions between the various parties.
BlueCo's position is clear: no return of Mamadou Sarr to Chelsea without a reliable replacement for Strasbourg.
The coming weeks will therefore be decisive for the future of the Senegalese defender, whose name is now at the heart of winter negotiations.
