Thiès rolls out the red carpet for one of its illustrious sons, Habib Diallo, the striker for the Lions of Teranga

Thiès paid a strong tribute to one of its illustrious sons, the Lions of Teranga striker, Habib Diallo, who was received by the Mayor of the City, Dr Babacar Diop, in an atmosphere charged with emotion and pride, the day after Senegal's historic victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Morocco.

On behalf of the city council and the residents of the city with two stations, the mayor expressed his gratitude to the international player for his exceptional performance during the 2025 AFCON. He praised the player's commitment, discipline and team spirit, calling him "a role model for the youth of Thiès".

"Habib Diallo embodies Senegalese perseverance and talent. His journey inspires our youth and fills us all with pride," declared the mayor of Thiès. Through this tribute, the city of Thiès definitively inscribes Habib Diallo's name in its history as a symbol of perseverance, success, and national pride.

Present at the ceremony, Habib Diallo's mother couldn't contain her joy. "I am so proud of my son. Seeing the city and the entire country celebrate him touches me deeply," she said, visibly moved. The Senegalese international, who received a warm welcome befitting his status, dedicated the victory to all the Senegalese people. According to him, the success at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is the result of collective effort and the unwavering support of the fans.

Je crois qu'il faudrait aussi rendre un hommage à Pape Matar SARR, qui est aussi natif de Thiès, je crois !
