Tirage au sort Coupe du monde : le Sénégal, Hugo Lloris replonge dans de mauvais souvenirs
A few hours after the draw for the 2026 World Cup, which placed Senegal in the same group as France, reactions continue to pour in around Group I. Among them, that of Hugo Lloris, former captain of Les Bleus and 2018 world champion, now 38 years old.
Interviewed on M6, the former goalkeeper of the French national team (145 caps) gave his analysis on the future opponents of the French team.
"Senegal? It brings back bad memories, especially the 2002 World Cup which I followed as a fan. They're a tough team. There were some great nations in Pot 2, and Senegal was one of them. It will be a real physical and athletic challenge against a very good team."
Lloris also commented on Norway:
"It's a young team, led by star players like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard. This generation is very talented. It's a tough challenge for Les Bleus."
While he refuses to be alarmist, the former Los Angeles FC goalkeeper still hopes that Didier Deschamps' players will know how to manage their efforts:
"I'm not worried, but I hope they don't expend too much energy in this group stage."
The 2018 world champions will have to wait until spring to find out who their final opponent will be, who will come from the intercontinental playoffs.
