Toby Writes impressionné par un milieu sénégalais : "Quand je l'ai vu, je me suis dit : 'Mais qui est ce gars?’"
Nigerian journalist Toby Writes was impressed by a Lions midfielder during a FC Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano match. It was Pathé Ciss. On social media, Writes posted a tribute to the 31-year-old midfielder, who responded to thank him.
"A few years ago, I went to Barcelona to watch a match at the Camp Nou. The opponent that day was Rayo Vallecano. Then I saw this black guy in midfield for Vallecano. A real player. I thought, 'Who is this guy who runs the midfield?' He wasn't the fastest, but he was everywhere, his technique was incredible. They drew against us that day. I immediately Googled him and realized he was Senegalese," wrote Toby Writes after the Atletico Madrid - Rayo Vallecano match (3-2), where Pathé Ciss again dominated the midfield despite his team's defeat.
Toby Writes adds: "A few years later, he's still going strong at Vallecano, delivered a masterful performance against Barcelona earlier this season to save them from dropping points, and dominated the midfield tonight against Atlético Madrid. I smiled watching him tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, Pathé Ciss!"
Following this post, Pathé Ciss reacted on Instagram to thank the Nigerian journalist for his opinion piece.
Recruited in 2021, Pathé Ciss has since been a hit with the Madrid-based club. Last season, the Senegalese player came very close to joining Olympique Lyonnais. Announced in Saudi Arabia during the last transfer window, Ciss has once again been retained by his club, which is waiting for a club to make an offer commensurate with the player's stature before it can let him go.
