Transfert : Newell’s Old Boys rêve d’un retour de Messi
What if Lionel Messi were to return to where it all began? In Rosario, Newell's Old Boys are aiming to bring their prodigal son back by 2027. The Argentinian club is working behind the scenes on a structured project to attract the Albiceleste legend, who was developed at the Rossoneri during his childhood but never made a first-team appearance. The idea goes far beyond the realm of football.
At 38, Messi embodies a powerful symbol for Newell's, which aims to build an environment worthy of his legacy, both in terms of infrastructure and the overall project. "We are working on the assumption that Leo will play for Newell's in the first half of 2027," the club's vice-president, Juan Manuel Medina, told TN, while reiterating that nothing has yet been officially confirmed.
The situation remains complex, however. Lionel Messi is currently under contract with Inter Miami until December 2028, and any prospect of a return will depend on several factors, including sporting and contractual ones.
But in Rosario, hope remains: that of one day seeing La Pulga finally wear, in the professional ranks, the colours of his beloved club.
