Transfert : Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly officiellement à Vancouver
It's now official. Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly is leaving the French league to embark on a new adventure in Major League Soccer. As announced in recent days, the Senegalese international striker has signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Aged 26 and with 12 caps for the Lions of Teranga, the Kolda native has recently distinguished himself on the international stage. In May 2025, he made a lasting impression by scoring the winning goal for Senegal against England at Wembley (3-1), a highlight of his international career.
The Canadian club officially announced his arrival in a press release, specifying that the former FC Metz player is contracted to Vancouver until the 2028-2029 season, with an option for an additional year. He thus joins an ambitious franchise, where German player Thomas Müller also plays.
“We have acquired the rights of Senegalese international striker Cheikh Sabaly from FC Metz. He is under contract with Vancouver until 2029, with an option for the 2029-2030 season,” the club said.
Sabaly thus turns an important page in his career. Wearing the garnet jersey, he played 122 matches, scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists. Above all, he was a key player in Metz's successes, contributing to three promotions to Ligue 1 in 2019, 2023 and 2025.
With this transfer, the striker, who trained at Génération Foot, takes on a new challenge in North America, where he will try to impose his talent and experience in a rapidly expanding league.
