Transfert : Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly vers un nouveau défi en MLS ?
Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly's adventure at FC Metz appears to be drawing to a close. Having been sidelined since December 13th, during a match against Paris Saint-Germain, the Senegalese striker has not been seen in Metz colors since participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, which he won with the Lions of Teranga.
According to Foot Mercato, the 26-year-old is nearing a move to Major League Soccer (MLS). With his contract expiring next June, the Kolda native is not expected to extend his stay with the Lorraine club and is actively exploring a new destination across the Atlantic.
Arriving in Metz in 2018 from Génération Foot, the Senegalese international (12 caps) has played 14 Ligue 1 matches this season with the newly promoted side. Already courted during the last summer transfer window, he came very close to signing with Middlesbrough. That transfer ultimately fell through, as Metz decided to keep the player despite his desire to leave, a situation that caused tension between Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly and the club's management.
Having achieved a highlight of his international career in May 2025 by scoring Senegal's winning goal against England at Wembley (3-1), Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly is now looking for a new sporting challenge. While a move to the United States seems increasingly likely, this potential choice raises questions, as the player appears to still have many good years ahead of him to establish himself in a more competitive European league.
It remains to be seen whether the Senegalese striker will take the gamble of MLS or whether he will favour one last opportunity on the Old Continent before definitively turning the page on European football.

C'est un bon remplacant en fin de remcontre pour Sadio Mane.
