Transfert : Hakim Ziyech débarque au Wydad Casablanca
It's now official! Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has joined Wydad Casablanca. The news was revealed this Wednesday by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who is always well-informed about the transfer market. Free of any contract, the former Chelsea player has decided to return home to begin a new chapter in his career.
Courted by several European and Gulf clubs, Ziyech ultimately opted for a symbolic return to Morocco. A strong choice, both sentimental and strategic, which demonstrates his attachment to his country. At 32, the attacking midfielder hopes to regain rhythm and consistency at club level, in order to preserve his chances of participating in the 2025 CAN-2025, which Morocco will host, as well as the 2026 World Cup.
Trained in the Netherlands and rising to prominence at Ajax Amsterdam before joining Chelsea, Ziyech has established himself as one of the most talented players of his generation. His signing for Wydad, one of Africa's most prestigious clubs, is seen as a huge boost for Moroccan football and a source of inspiration for the country's youth.
Wydad, for its part, has made a resounding move in the transfer market. By attracting a player of Hakim Ziyech's caliber, the Casablanca club is sending a strong signal of its renewed ambitions on the continental stage.
