Mondial U17 : les Lionceaux «chassés deux fois» de Toubab Dialaw
Heading to the U17 World Cup in Qatar from November 3 to 27, the Senegalese national team in this category has had a chaotic preparation. The Lionceaux, led by Pape Ibrahima Faye, have only played two international friendlies (two draws against Morocco, 0-0 and 2-2).
Their regrouping was then limited to meetings with local football clubs and schools, a preparation considered largely insufficient for such a level of competition, especially since several players lack international experience, reports Le Quotidien, citing Wiwsport.
Preparations have been severely hampered by logistical problems, a technician complained on condition of anonymity: the team was repeatedly prevented from accessing the Toubab Dialaw and Lat-Dior training centers, giving way to other camps or teams. This lack of priority raises serious questions about the commitment of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF).
Despite these difficulties, the Lion Cubs are scheduled to leave Dakar this Wednesday morning. However, the lack of follow-up is accentuated by the fact that the flag handover ceremony has not yet taken place, while many teams are already in Qatar acclimatizing.
Senegal, playing in their third consecutive U17 World Cup, are aiming to advance beyond the round of 16. They will be in Group C and face Croatia (November 3), Costa Rica (November 6), and the United Arab Emirates (November 9).
