UFC 329: "COMME L’ENFER", CONOR MCGREGOR ANÉANTI APRÈS SON COMEBACK RATÉ CONTRE HOLLOWAY
Defeated by Max Holloway after injuring his right knee at the start of his fight during the main event of UFC 329 on Saturday in Las Vegas, MMA star Conor McGregor reflected on this catastrophic comeback with a message posted on social media.
All that for this… Irish MMA star Conor McGregor completely botched his return to the UFC after a five-year absence, injuring his right knee in the first few seconds of the fight, thus losing his bout against American Max Holloway in just 69 seconds on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The referee stopped the McGregor-Holloway fight, which was being contested in the welterweight category, after the 37-year-old Irishman was knocked down three times in the first minute.
From the opening seconds, McGregor leaped forward and launched a roundhouse kick at Holloway, but injured his right knee after landing awkwardly. McGregor fell twice more, clutching his knee, which prompted the referee to stop the fight.
McGregor: "It came out of nowhere, I'm at rock bottom."
Although he left the cage without comment, The Notorious later reacted on X. "My head gasket blew," he lamented. "I had no injuries before the fight. I was doing kicks, ground work, and jumps throughout the training camp and in the locker room before the fight. It came out of nowhere, I'm devastated. I can only describe it as hell."
