US Ouakam : comment un ex-capitaine des Lions utilise son téléphone pour ...
Former Lions defender and captain Pape Malickou Diakhaté is returning to his roots as general manager of US Ouakam (USO), the club where he began his career. In an interview with L'Observateur, he explains that his decision to return "came naturally," motivated by a desire to share his experience and contribute to the club's restructuring.
The former Senegalese international reflects on his role and ambitions. In the long term, his main objective is to rejuvenate the squad and develop young players, particularly local talent. This strategy aims to strengthen the club's identity and generate financial gains through international transfers. The former Lion explains that his intention, which has been developing for three years, is to "pass on all the experience we have gained." In the short term, he wants to improve the club's results compared to the previous season.
Diakhaté defines his role as that of a proactive advisor and an essential link within the organizational chart. He is there to "steer the club's sporting policy and facilitate communication between the different bodies," particularly between the technical staff and the board of directors.
He maintains that his relationship with the coaching staff, including head coach Moussa Diatta, is "very good." During matches, he remains constantly in contact with the bench, "phone glued to his ear," readily going down from the stands to relay notes or tactical advice to an intermediary, in order to help the team while respecting the coach's authority. The interviewee for the Groupe Futurs Médias newspaper emphasizes: "I know my place when necessary and how to intervene respectfully and with restraint when needed."
